Greek Zeibekiko as part of Queensboro Dance Festival 2024

Kalli Siamidou will be participating in Queensboro Dance Festival this summer with a solo zeibekiko on the song “Athina Mou” by Konstantinos Argyros. The dance will be showcased as part of a multi cultural event, representing this special greek solo dance. Kalli’s attempt is to show the continuation of zeibekiko in the modern days. A woman solo dance, traditionally danced only by men. A dance that will take place so far from Greece, in Queens, New York and with audiences both from the greek diaspora or from all other places of the globe.

For the festival:

Launched in 2014, Queensboro Dance Festival (QDF) was created out of a need for easier artist access to a dance community within Queens, and to cultivate audiences in underserved Queens neighborhoods. Each summer, they tour throughout Queens’ local parks, plazas, and streets, reaching 10,000 people each year. They proudly present professional Queens-based dance companies of diverse cultures and styles, offering over 30 free outdoor performances, classes, and dance parties to the public. They also provide dance companies with free professional development and Queens arts resources.
